Two dollars is about to buy a kid a book on President Clinton Avenue. The Central Arkansas Library System is opening Library Square Books, a used bookstore of its own, at 405 President Clinton Ave. downtown — and the shelves open to the public this month.
The dates, confirmed directly with CALS:
- Soft opening — Friday, Aug. 14, 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 15, noon to 4 p.m.
- Grand opening and ribbon-cutting — Thursday, Aug. 20, 2 p.m.
The pricing is the kind a library would set. Step into Reading titles for early readers start at $2. Paperbacks and other children’s books run $4. Hardcovers are $8, and rare books are priced individually.
The store sits in the Library Square block of the River Market district, steps from the Main Library — putting cheap, good books on one of the most walked stretches of downtown Little Rock just as the school year begins.
